October is Domestic Violence Awareness + Action Month
Individually and collectively we can take steps to support survivors and prevent domestic violence.
Check out the calendar of DVAM events in Massachusetts: https://www.janedoe.org/events/
Here are 3 ways you can get involved and make a difference.
Movement Makers
One way to right history is to re-write the historical narrative to include, and indeed center, those whose stories and experiences have been erased due to the unrelenting power of white supremacy culture. In many ways the history of DV movement is actually the history of several movements – abolition, civil rights, religious freedom – and the leadership of Black women in particular.
Throughout October, JDI will uplift those whose legacies continue to make a difference in the lives of survivors. Follow us on social media to learn more and share!
No Survivor Justice Without Racial Justice
JDI is also joining the call from the DV Awareness Project (DVAP) coordinated by our partner, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence to focus on how domestic violence is linked to all forms of violence.
To end domestic violence, we must dismantle anti-Blackness, other types of racism, discrimination, and structures that perpetuate oppression.
No Survivor Justice Without Racial Justice resonates with JDI’s work to center the leadership of Black survivors, leaders, advocates and frontline workers. We invite you to learn more about this campaign and and join us as we uplift the lived experiences of survivors of color as an essential strategy to foster safe and thriving communities!!

#Every1KnowsSome1
With 1 in 4 women, 1 in 7 men and as many as 1 in 2 folks who identify as LGBQT+ experiencing domestic violence in their lifetime, it is likely that everyone knows someone who has been impacted by domestic violence.
JDI is partnering with the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) and other state and territorial coalitions across the country for a coordinated conversation
