We invite you to join us on Wednesday, March 2 at 1:00 pm outside in front of Melrose City Hall (Essex Street entrance) for our 5th annual White Ribbon Day event!
The 15-minute ceremony will include a Proclamation of White Ribbon Day in Melrose by Mayor Paul Brodeur, remarks by city and community leaders, and MAAV Student Action Board members leading a pledge of non-violence. It will conclude with the raising of the White Ribbon Day flag outside of City Hall, accompanied by Melrose High School drummers.
Jim Donohue, President of Melrose Youth Soccer and recipient of Men4MAAV’s Excellence in Male Leadership Award, will offer remarks about promoting equity and respect in sports.
White Ribbon Day was created by a group of Canadian men in 1991 in response to the massacre of 14 women in Montreal. It is now an international event that occurs in more than 60 countries worldwide.
All members of the community are welcome to attend. We hope you will join us!
Sponsored by Men4MAAV and the City of Melrose Mayor’s Office.
